NOAA to Release 2011 Hurricane Outlook Today
The Associated Press reports that the NOAA will release the 2011 Hurricane Outlook today. Our hurricane season runs from June 1-November 30. According to the AP, the weather forecasters at Colorado State University have already predicted an above-average hurricane season with 16 named storms. They expect nine of those storms to strengthen into hurricanes with five of them being deemed as “major.”
Last year’s we had 12 hurricanes and 19 named storms. However, no major hurricane has made a U.S. landfall in the last five years.
